An Ecuadorian entity pays a 25% general corporate income tax rate, with reductions available for profit reinvestment and other qualifying activities, and the annual return (Formulario 101) staggered April 10-28 by the 9th digit of the RUC. IVA runs at 15% (raised from 12% in 2024), filed monthly by default via Formulario 104 and staggered the 10th-28th of the following month, with a return only considered valid since June 2026 if filed together with full payment. Electronic invoicing is mandatory for essentially every taxpayer, and financial statements follow full NIIF (IFRS), or IFRS for SMEs for qualifying smaller entities, with accounting records retained at least 7 years. Related-party transactions with a foreign parent above $3 million a year require the AOPRE annex, and a full Informe Integral de Precios de Transferencia applies above a higher threshold, both filed in June. Payments abroad, dividends, royalties, loan repayments, and service fees, carry a 25% withholding (reducible under tax treaties) plus a 5% ISD exit tax.

Mandatory electronic invoicing for essentially all taxpayers issuing invoices, retention receipts, or credit and debit notes
Financial statements under full NIIF (IFRS), or IFRS for SMEs for qualifying smaller entities, with accounting records retained a minimum of 7 years and capital-related records retained indefinitely while the company exists
Anexo de Operaciones con Partes Relacionadas (AOPRE) once related-party transactions exceed $3 million a year, and a full Informe Integral de Precios de Transferencia (IPT) above a higher threshold, both filed in June by RUC digit
25% withholding on most payments abroad to non-residents (reducible under applicable tax treaties), plus the 5% ISD exit tax on outbound payments including dividends, royalties, loan repayments, and service fees to the foreign parent
Dividends, royalties, loan repayments, and service fees paid to a foreign parent all trigger the 5% ISD tax. It's creditable against income tax within 5 years, but the upfront cash-flow impact catches foreign parents off guard when they first repatriate funds.
Since June 2026, an IVA return is only considered filed if submitted together with full payment. A return filed without payment is treated as not filed at all, turning what used to be a late-payment issue into a late-filing one.
Mandatory external audit triggers shifted from fixed USD amounts to multiples of the SBU effective fiscal year 2025. A foreign-owned subsidiary that budgeted against last year's dollar threshold should recheck whether it now crosses the line.
Monthly IVA and withholding filings, plus the annual Formulario 101 return, handled on their RUC-staggered deadlines
NIIF-compliant financial statements prepared and accounting records retained for the required period
AOPRE and IPT transfer pricing filings prepared ahead of the June deadline for related-party transactions with the foreign parent
Guidance on ISD and withholding tax exposure for payments abroad, so repatriation timing accounts for the real cash-flow impact
